TheFCCN, digital services unit ofFoundation for Science and Technology, Its purpose is to contribute to the development of Science, Technology and Knowledge in Portugal. It provides high-speed internet connectivity and digital services for the Higher Education and Research system in Portugal.
Over six hundred thousand students, researchers, teachers and staff can rely on its national education and technology network every day. As a technology partner to these communities, FCCN provides nearly 30 shared digital services aimed at supporting the development of Education, Science and Technology in Portugal, contributing to the excellence of national teaching and research.

University of Porto
Founded in 1911, the University of Porto has its remote origins in the Nautical School, created in 1762. Currently, comprising 15 faculties, 48 research units and an associated business school, it has an academic community of over 54,000 students from over one hundred countries, and approximately 3,900 faculty and researchers. It offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, totaling more than 330 undergraduate, integrated master's, master's and doctoral courses, in addition to practical training and continuing education programs.
The University of Porto is consistently ranked among the top 100 in Europe and the top 250 in the world in the most prestigious university rankings and, in Portugal, is the largest producer of scientific articles and the institution with the most active patent registrations. The University of Porto Science and Technology Park (UPTEC), created in 2007, has been an important catalyst for innovation and entrepreneurship in the region, supporting the growth of more than 700 business projects.
